I recently recorded a video on financial responsibility for Ode Magazine. Please take a few minutes to watch the video below and let me know your thoughts (only the first commenter gets to complain about the low volume, please). =)
Personally, I found the volume to be quite acceptable!
The one line budget has taken so much stress out of my life in the past couple of years. Yes, the wife and I still talk (often too much and to the detriment of our respective blood pressures) about how money is spent but we both realize that we are doing much better than most of our friends and it isn’t because we make more. While my wife has a decent job (low paying by some of our friends standards), I’ve been stuck doing restaurant work for almost a year now due to the current job market. We own a home and still manage to put away nearly 25% every paycheck and I would not say we “suffer” because of it. Saving is like exercise – sure there’s other stuff you rather do prior to going to the gym but once you’re’ done you feel great about yourself and it’s going to pay off even more down the line.
@Jeff: Thanks for you comment. Apparently, Ode was able to dramatically increase the volume after the original version I previewed – glad you agree.
Congratulations on all the saving you’ve accomplished. Just think how much easier you’ll have it (on both the saving and spending side of things) once the economy normalizes for you – and it will happen. Please keep us posted and good luck!
